I went for a yearly checkup for signs of skin cancer. I am 44 years old with fair skin. I was seen by a physician assistant and then the doctor came and conducted a very brief overview. I was given the ok, no problems. Luckily I went to my eye doctors a month later where he saw I was missing a few eye lashes on my lower lid and sent me to a specialists. Turns out I had a basal cell carcinoma on my lower eyelid. I am recovering now from having over 50% of my eyelid removed and my eyelid sewn shut for a month. I am grateful for my eye doctor but very dismayed that the skin experts missed this.

I have been seeing Dr. Beth Hellstern every 6 months for about 10 years and I am very pleased with her care.
