Mike in NJ

I don't enjoy writing this review, they seem like nice people. Brought my truck to them. After several hours I was told the transmission needed to be removed from the truck to determine the problem. I was not charged for this. Based on my very limited knowledge of electronic transmissions, I disagreed. I thought the trans needed to be installed to diagnose the problem. I took it to another shop, they determined the issue in 15 minutes. 2 hours later I was fixed. As I suspected, the issue was electronic and removing the trans would have been a huge waste of time and money. MY RESPONSE TO THE OWNER BELOW. You are correct Bill, there was no check engine light or code. And there was no check engine light or code when I brought the truck to the other shop within hours of leaving your place. The problem you missed turned out to be a temperature sensor telling the trans it was extremely cold when it was not. This was causing the trans to shift out of overdrive. Since this could be normal in cold climates, the computer didn't generate a trouble code. Face it, you missed it. And you wouldn't have found it with the trans removed from the truck. What would I have paid you to fix this, assuming you eventually found the issue, considering the time and labor involved in removing and installing the trans unnecessarily? MY SECOND RESPONSE TO THE OWNER BELOW. Bill, you can disagree all you want. The bottom line is you wanted to remove the trans and disassemble it because you claim you couldn't find the problem. I took it somewhere else hours later and they diagnosed and fixed it quickly. It makes me wonder if it's just a case of there being a lot more profit in removing and tearing a trans down VS swapping a sensor. After all, once the trans is out and in pieces on your bench you can tell me and charge me whatever you want, right? 3rd response to the owner: "I was honest with you. and when I told you about the internal inspection I suggested not doing it. I encouraged you to drive the vehicle to see if the problem would become more obvious.. Why are you not mentioning that?" This is hysterical. Bill, I didn't mention it because you in fact told me the exact opposite. You told me further transmission damage would occur if I continued driving it in the condition it was in. And you know what? I agree with you. But the trans obviously didn't need to be removed to find the problem as you stated. And no, I don't enjoy leaving you this review. I would prefer to have given you 5 stars for fixing it quickly like the other shop did without removing the trans and disassembling it. You can read the review I gave the other shop by clicking on my other reviews. But that's how it went down. I'm sorry, you earned this review.
