My mother had a stroke and was taken to Centra State Medical Center. The 1st impression was that it was a really nice hospital given the grounds and looked like recent updates to the lobby. I have never been so shocked and disappointed when I got to her floor. It was filthy, staff was no where to be found and no one answered the call light for 2 hrs. My mother had been put in a diaper, was soaking wet and her skin was starting to break down. After multiple attempts to find someone for help, the LPN came to my mothers room. I honestly don't know how she even passed her boards. She was the most unprofessional and uncaring person. Just for an example, she was rough with my frail mother, pulled down her soaked diaper from the back, ran a suppository under cold water and brutally inserted it in her anus. I finally found the nurses aide and asked her to help me change her and give her a bath. When she finally came 45 min. later, I found the suppository and blood around my mothers anus. This is just one example of the care at this poor excuse for a hospital. One of my friends used to work there and told me that Jersey Shore Hospital is a much better hospital. So, if you want good care, go there for your care. I would have loved if JAHCO payed a visit while I was there.

Facility is very clean and well maintained. Ample parking. Your experience may vary depending on the purpose of your visit, but after over a dozen visits, I found the faculty to be friendly and cordial. One of the better hospitals in the area.
